Release questions must go to the office responsible for the custody system or record. Fayette County jail matters start with Lexington Community Corrections. Kentucky prison and supervision records belong to the Department of Corrections, court documents belong to the clerk, and federal releases use federal channels.

This is not a government office. It cannot confirm custody, pull a record, arrange release, or forward a message to an inmate or agency.

Fayette Jail and Release Records

For a local adult jail status, release transaction, booking sheet, or booking photograph, contact the Division of Community Corrections. The jail is operated by the urban-county government, not by the sheriff. Use the city’s open-records request page and select Community Corrections. Requests may also be sent to ORR@lexingtonky.gov, faxed, mailed, or delivered in person.

Kentucky Prison and Supervision

A state-prison record, KOOL correction, or KDOC release file belongs to the Kentucky Department of Corrections open-records office. Requests may be sent to correctionsopenrecords@ky.gov. KDOC publishes a five-business-day response period and copy charges of ten cents per released paper page, one dollar for a CD plus postage, and approximately $2.50 for a USB drive plus postage. Those terms do not govern a Fayette city request.
