Find FMC Lexington Releases

To find someone released from Federal Medical Center Lexington, use the federal custody record rather than Fayette County or Kentucky state searches. A federal locator result can show a release date and a released location label, but another agency or supervision may still have authority. Transfer to another federal institution, a residential reentry center, home confinement, U.S. Marshals custody, or immigration detention is not the same as full community release. The correct path follows the person from BOP to any receiving federal agency.

FMC Lexington Release Paths

Federal Medical Center Lexington is a Federal Bureau of Prisons medical correctional institution with an adjacent minimum-security satellite camp. A sentenced person may complete a term, move to supervised release, transfer within BOP, enter an RRM or residential reentry placement, serve home confinement while still in BOP custody, or move to another agency under a detainer or writ.

A release from the building is therefore not always release from federal custody. The public result must be read by date and location. “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody” is evidence that BOP custody ended, subject to the locator warning. A facility name, another institution, or an RRM designation means BOP custody continues.

Search FMC Federal Releases

The BOP Inmate Locator covers federal inmates from 1982 to the present. Search with a BOP register number, commonly formatted with five digits, a hyphen, and three digits. A name search can be narrowed by race, age, and sex. Compare the returned name and register number carefully.

  1. Search by register number when it is known.
  2. Otherwise enter the name and use available identity filters.
  3. Open the matching result and record the release date and location.
  4. Read “Released” differently from an institution or RRM label.
  5. Check the federal docket or receiving agency if another hold may exist.

Results include name, register number, age, race, sex, release date, and location. BOP warns that a release date may not be current, and some pre-1982 records are absent. The Fayette County released-inmate search keeps this federal route separate from the local jail and KOOL.

The locator’s federal scope is useful precisely because Fayette’s jail roster and KOOL cannot confirm BOP release.

FMC Locator Results Explained

A historical result with a release date and “Released” supports a past BOP departure. It does not state that every sentence, supervision term, immigration matter, or state case ended. Supervised release is a federal court term served in the community after imprisonment. It differs from BOP custody, yet it remains a legal obligation.

A current RRM label can refer to a residential reentry center or related community-corrections administration. Home confinement may also leave a person outside the prison walls while BOP authority continues. Do not translate either label into an unconditional release.

The result-interface capture illustrates where those fields appear. Review the official BOP result interface when confirming a record.

FMC Records and Contact

BOP’s FOIA and Privacy Act route is the records channel for federal custody material. Identify the person by full name and register number, specify FMC Lexington and the date range, and describe the release, transfer, or discharge record sought. Privacy law may require consent or restrict a third-party request. A federal court docket can supply the judgment, sentence, later orders, and supervised-release terms, but it may not record the physical time the person left the institution.

BOP announced the satellite camp’s closure in July 2026, so current camp operations are time-sensitive. Verify the institution page rather than assuming an older status remains accurate.

USMS Transfers After FMC

The U.S. Marshals Service manages many federal pretrial prisoners and transports people under federal authority. It does not provide a general public historical release locator. A person held only as a USMS pretrial detainee may move among contract facilities, and the BOP locator may not show the whole pre-sentence trail.

Use the federal court docket to identify detention and release orders. Then contact the appropriate official channel for the physical custody event. A writ can cause temporary movement without ending the underlying custody. Likewise, transport from FMC to a court, hospital, or another jail is not proof of release.

ICE Custody After BOP

ICE may assume custody when an immigration detainer applies. In that case, BOP can report the person released from its custody while the person does not enter the community. The ICE Online Detainee Locator is the next public check. Search options use an A-number with country of birth or biographical details presented by the live system.

If the locator does not resolve the question, the ICE Detention Reporting and Information Line is 1-888-351-4024, Monday through Friday except holidays, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern. ICE FOIA is the record route. Search results can lag, and identity must be compared with care.

Detainer
A request or authority that may lead another agency to take custody.
Writ
A court order that can move a person temporarily for proceedings.
Supervised release
Federal court supervision after imprisonment, distinct from BOP custody.
RRM
A BOP community placement that still counts as federal custody.

Federal Release Records Compared

The BOP locator, federal court docket, institution record, and receiving-agency record serve different roles. The locator gives a compact public status result. The docket supplies judgment, sentence, detention or release orders, and supervised-release terms. BOP records can document institutional release or transfer. ICE or another agency records custody it assumes afterward.

Dates may differ without being errors. A sentence endpoint, locator release date, transport date, and start of supervised release describe separate events. Record the register number and retrieve each source by date. If BOP says released while ICE shows custody, both can be accurate because BOP custody ended and immigration custody began.

FMC Identity Search Precision

The BOP register number is the strongest public matching key. A common name can return several people, and age, race, or sex filters narrow rather than prove identity. Compare the full register number and preserve the result date. Do not use a similar photograph, Lexington connection, or matching surname as a substitute.

Pre-1982 imprisonment may be absent. No result can also reflect spelling, a name variant, timing, or a person held by USMS who never entered the sentenced BOP population in the expected way. The federal docket is the next source for a known case, while BOP records can address a specific history.

For someone on federal supervised release, the sentencing court describes the term. Supervised release does not mean BOP custody continues. It also does not mean every federal legal obligation ended. Keep custody status and court supervision as separate facts.

FMC Release Request Details

A focused BOP record request should identify the person by full name and register number, name FMC Lexington, and give the relevant date range. State whether the request seeks an institutional release, a transfer, the destination recorded at departure, or another custody event. Privacy Act rules can limit disclosure about another person, so follow the consent or proof instructions given by the federal agency.

The federal court docket answers a different question. It may show the judgment, term of imprisonment, later sentence changes, release orders, and supervised-release conditions. It usually does not prove the hour that institutional processing ended. When the locator and docket appear inconsistent, compare what each date labels before treating the difference as an error.

If another agency received the person, direct follow-up there. ICE has its locator, information line, and FOIA channel. USMS records may matter for pretrial detention or transport, though there is no broad public historical USMS locator. Keep the BOP release event separate from later federal or immigration custody.
